9th edition of India Haat Witnessed an Eclectic Display of Indigenous Hand-Crafted Items

India Haat is one of the most awaited exhibitions cum sale of ethnic art and craft products. The exhibition was recently inaugurated in the presence of respected Mayor of Kolkata, Sri Sovan Chatterjee.

A veritable treasure-trove of an astonishing variety of indigenous and hand-crafted items, the exhibition has always enjoyed the patronage of many of the city’s celebrities. Merchandise from exhibitors selected across all over India was on offer for Kolkata’s shopping lovers.


The exhibitors came from Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Hyderabad, Kashmir, Noida, Gurgaon, Banaras, Lucknow and other parts of the country. The venue was segmented into 5 zones. Haute Haat – contained a hot collection of Pret and couture, designer suites, tunics and dresses, men’s wear, kids wear, western and indo-western clothing along with Bridal wear.


Designer Haat – had bags, Pashmina shawls, stoles designer jackets, scarves – hair and fashion accessories, footwear et al. Art Haat – had artwork and ceramics, terracotta, metal and wooden artifacts, silverware, paper products, murals, pottery, handicrafts, glassware. Aangan Haat – displayed home furnishing with a niche, decor materials, household accessories, statues, brass products, table linen, gift items, dry-flower, candles, chocolates, aromatic bath items, cane products, contemporary paintings. And finally the Jewel Haat – Glitters with polki, diamonds and stones, kundan, meena, junk and fashion jewellery by prominent jewellers.


The proceeds from the three day event will be used for various charitable activities of Rotary Club of Calcutta Mahanagar including free heart surgeries for needy children, Free Cataract Surgeries for underprivileged at its Eye Hospital Hari Charan Garg Rotary Mahanagar Netralaya at P-19 Beliaghata Main Road, Kolkata – 85, Blood donation helpline, disaster relief, scholarships, Dialysis Center and other charitable causes.
