This school is actually the brainchild of designer Arnab Sengupta. Along with the official launch of the fashion school, the designer’s latest Spring-Summer Collection 2014 was also showcased. Eminent city models like Madhabilata walked the ramp for the designer.

Model-actress Bidita Bag who also walked the ramp for the designer said “The courses are very practical unlike the courses offered at the other institutes. The need of the students has been understood by the designer and he has introduced those courses which will enable them to make it big in their future”.

The designer showcased long flowing gowns and exquisite looking Anarkalis from his Spring-Summer Collection 2014. The colors used are mostly pastel shades like peach, orange. Even silver has also been used in the collection.

The designer Arnab Sengupta was visibly excited about the launch of the fashion school. “The National School of Fashion developed out of the need of proper fashion structure in the city. The city still needs to learn the grammar of fashion. Hence long and short term courses are being offered at the institute. In the near future we are thinking of introducing a B.Tech in Fashion that would benefit the students immensely in monitoring their aim and direction in life” said the designer.

The first session of this fashion school will begin from the middle of June. Three months and six months courses include styling, visual merchandising, jewelry designing, textile art, fashion journalism, fashion photography, garment manufacturing and many more such courses. These courses will cost anywhere between thirty and fifty five thousand rupees. One year diploma and two years advance diploma courses are offered in fashion design, textile design, garment manufacturing, fashion and media science, costume designing for films and theatres. One year course fee is ninety five thousand and two years cost about one lakh and eighty thousand rupees. There will be about sixty students in each batch. This has been done to take great care of the students.

“The courses are very practical oriented and will suit the needs of the fashion enthusiasts very much. The other institutes do not have such courses like fashion journalism, garment manufacturing or fashion photography. These courses help the students immensely to gel well with the current market trends and prepare themselves accordingly. The courses are also of short term and also pocket friendly for the middle class people who will be able to afford them now” said designer Sarbari Datta.

National School of Fashion promises to be a good platform for the young fashion enthusiast wanting to make a big name in this industry.
